United States accounts for 50% of world’s increase in emissions last year

An incredibly thorough report by the Energy Institute reveals that despite a 28% surge in domestic solar capacity, clean energy was unable to keep up with skyrocketing data center power demand, causing U.S. coal-related emissions to jump by 13%.

The report also reveals that the U.S. uses about 40% of the world’s data center electricity consumption.
